 araneus bradleyi f

 Araneus bradleyi retreat

Bush Orb Weaver. Plebs eburnus

This female is about 15mm long. She spends her day hiding in that little retreat (below) and at night sits in an angled web. In this case the web is at the end of the fence in a corner. It is under a Mulberry Tree overhang above a little garden that has never been disturbed or watered.

These images taken in August and my identification is based on of the many variations of this spider's patterns. In this case on Ron Atkinson's site. Thanks to Rob Whyte ( for the copious assistance in finding the final identification

formerly identified as A bradleyi (Enamelled Spider)
