Swift Spider (Supunna Picta)
This spider is known as the Swift Spider for good reason. It is normally to be seen scooting in short, quick, bursts across the landscape. It rarely to stops for more than a second and is difficult to catch or photograph because of it.
They grow to about 7mm body length and have the spread of a ten cent piece.
When they get into my house I ignore them and they find their own way outside in no time.
They are not inclined to bite, or even notice us, unless they are tormented. One teenager in Budgewoi tormented one until it bit her. She claimed to feel a little unsteady for a while. The bite hurt but quickly healed to feeling itchy for a couple of days.
